Traditional Use at SRM Meeting

February 2007 - Rebecca S. Toupal, Assistant Research Scientist with BARA, and Richard Arnold, representative of the Consolidated Group of Tribes and Oganizations, presented a poster about Traditional Piñon Pine Management (PowerPoint) at the 60th Annual Meeting of the Society for Range Management in Reno, NV. Visitors to the poster included university professors and students from the U.S. and Mexico, federal and state agency range managers, Native Americans, ranchers, and high school range students. Everyone was intrigued by the innovative approach to dealing with fuel loads and invasive plant species, and the potential benefits from traditional practices to rangelands and the cultures that depend upon them.
