July 2010 - Preetam Prakash, a School of Anthropology doctoral student who has been working on several projects on the Gulf Coast with Dr. Thomas McGuire and Dr. Diane Austin, was recently featured on the front page of the Arizona Daily Wildcat. The story covers his experiences in Meridian, Mississippi during the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon and ensuing environmental disaster. BARA researchers have been studying the socioeconomic impacts of the offshore oil industry on the Gulf Coast region for over a decade.
