François Lanoë and Nieves Zedeño Awarded NEH Grant for Boarding School Research

François Lanoë and Nieves Zedeño received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for their upcoming project titled “The Materiality of Survivance at Indian Boarding Schools, Blackfeet Indian Reservation, Montana,” which they will carry out in partnership with the Blackfeet Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO). This grant will support archaeological fieldwork at two boarding schools from the late 19th and early 20th century, seeking to document children's experience of the school system through material culture.
