Research Interests
Terry Woronov is a new faculty member
in the Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology (BARA). She
received her B.A. in East Asian Studies from Georgetown University,
an M.Ed. from Harvard, and a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from
the University of Chicago. Her fieldwork research was conducted
in China, where she focused on the changing politics and ideologies
associated with the single children produced under the state's
One-Child Only policy. She has received grants from the Committee
on Scholarly Communication with China, the American Council
of Learned Societies, and the Spencer Foundation. A former Sawyer
Fellow at the University of Michigan, she has also been a Postdoctoral
Fellow at the Center for Chinese Studies at Berkeley. Her most
recent projects focus on children, childhood, and education.
